Luminario Ballet presents it's full Los Angeles premiere at the El Portal September 18,19, and 20th, presenting contemporary ballet pieces by Doriana Sanchez of "So You Think You Can Dance", Michael Smuin's "Bouquet", staged by Evelyn Cisneros-Legate of San Francisco Ballet, Jamal Story of Complexions NYC, Josie Walsh of MYODance, pieces from LedZAerial, a Led Zeppelin ballet/aerial piece staged by Bianca Sapetto of Cirque du Soleil, and a modern piece from Bella Lewitzky, "Recuerdo", staged by Diana MacNeil and John Pennington.
This show is not to be missed by dance fans, circus fans, and sports fans!!!

YMTA proudly presents the 2005 Tony Award winning musical The Light In The Piazza, with a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel. Based on a novella by Elizabeth Spencer, it is set in Florence and Rome in the summer of 1953. Featuring a live chamber orchestra and starring an all star cast headlined by veteran film, TV and stage actress Mary Donnelly Haskell as Margaret Johnson. Returning to the El Portal stage after appearing in the phenomenal hit musical The Marvelous Wonderettes is Stephanie Wall as Clara Johnson. The role of Fabrizio Naccarelli will be played by film, TV, and stage actor Blake Ewing.
The Light in the Piazza is an emotionally rich musical that takes its audience on a journey directly to the center of the human heart. It’s the summer of 1953 and Margaret Johnson is touring the Italian countryside with her daughter, Clara, a beautiful, yet naive, young woman. While sightseeing, Clara loses her hat in a sudden gust of wind. As if guided by an unseen hand, the hat lands at the feet of Fabrizio Naccarelli, a handsome Florentine. |
